I became an ARMY in 2025, and honestly, it’s one of the best decisions that I “accidentally” made. Because BTS changed my life.
And as it goes, you don’t find BTS; BTS finds you when you need them the most. And that’s the exact case that happened with me.
In this post, I want to share my story on how BTS changed my life for good, how I became an Army, and what they mean to me beyond being just a boy band.

How BTS Found Me
Back in 2020, I was in one of the weirdest phases of my life. I was slowly entering the clinical depression phase. I lost around 15 KG of weight due to depression. Here’s how I looked:

And while working on my job, I was researching. During that time, I came across the BTS Carpool Karaoke video.
I already knew BTS. They were quite popular already on Twitter (now X), and my friend was a BTS fan since 2017, so she always used to talk positively about BTS. But let me admit it, I never paid attention until I came across this random video. I thought, “let’s see how BTS are” and god, how I wish I could experience this feeling again.
I remember texting my friend right away, asking her the names of songs I was listening to on the video. The first song I vibed to was Mic Drop.
I remember spamming my friend on WhatsApp, asking her, “I just want to know their names,” and of course! We all know this sentence itself is the beginning of entering something you cannot step away from (and honestly, who wants to, anyway?).
That was the beginning of everything for me.

I Travelled 2 Countries Because of BTS
Thanks to BTS, I was able to travel to 2 different countries. I went to Jakarta, Indonesia, to attend the D-Day Tour of Suga and Singapore for the Hope On The Stage tour for Hobi.
I remember when I first saw Yoongi during the soundcheck. I couldn’t process that Yoongi is real. The man that I saw in videos all the time was standing in front of me.
Throughout the entire concert, I couldn’t help but be grateful to be in the moment. Suga showed us his energetic side with Daechwita, Haegum, and August D performance. Whereas, my emotional side came out and I cried like a baby during Snooze and Amydala. These two felt like a warm hug to me, despite Yoongi being feet away from me.

On the other hand, I also attended VIP for J-Hope, and oh my god. Little did I know I was in for a ride. Hobi came out during soundcheck while recording himself on his phone, wearing a scarf.
I was way too close to Hobi, and I just froze. The man is ACTUAL SUNSHINE IN A HUMAN FORM, and I’m not even kidding at this point.

What BTS Taught Me
Being an ARMY isn’t just about knowing every lyric or cheering at every concert. It’s about growing alongside seven people who, somehow, make you see the world and yourself a little differently.
Here are some of the biggest things BTS has taught me:
It’s okay to not have it all figured out.
Through songs like “Life Goes On” and “Tomorrow,” they reminded me that uncertainty is part of life. You can take things slow, stumble, and still move forward.
Self-love is a journey, not a switch.
“Epiphany” and “Answer: Love Myself” made me realize that loving yourself takes time — it’s about forgiving your past, embracing your flaws, and learning to be gentle with yourself.
Dreams don’t come easy, but they’re worth it.
Watching BTS rise from a small company to global icons showed me that hard work, belief, and teamwork can defy any odds. Their story is living proof that passion changes everything.
You’re allowed to feel everything.
BTS never hid their pain, burnout, or doubt. And that honesty taught me that vulnerability isn’t weakness. It’s courage in its purest form.
Love heals. Always.
Whether it’s love for your friends, family, yourself, or even for seven people you’ve never met, it has power. BTS made me believe that love can be the thing that saves you on your hardest days.
They didn’t just give us music; they gave us hope, strength, and comfort. And honestly? That’s something I’ll carry with me for life.

Why BTS Will Always Mean More Than Music
For me, BTS isn’t just a group — they’re a feeling, a reminder that love, hope, and healing can exist even in the darkest places.
Their words carried me through my lows and celebrated my highs. They taught me that it’s okay to be vulnerable, to dream, and to start again.
So no matter how much time passes, I know BTS will always hold a special place in my heart — not as idols, but as the reason I learned to love myself again.
From One ARMY to Another
If you’ve ever cried to “Spring Day” or felt understood through “Magic Shop,” you’ll get what I mean when I say — BTS isn’t just a chapter in our lives. They are the reason so many of us found hope again.
They showed us that it’s okay to be human, to feel lost, and to still move forward anyway.
And as I write this, all I can say is — thank you, BTS, for finding me when I needed you the most. 💜
